USE AND CARE

BEFORE FIRST TIME USE:

  • Remove all packaging material and labels. Check the bottom carefully for any scratches, burn or any other damage, which can be occurred by handling, transport or the sale in selling point. These damages can scratch the cooking zone! We cannot be held responsible for such cooking zone damages. Scratches of any kind in the cooking surface CANNOT be claimed as a warranty issue.

  • After unpacking your cookware, remove any labels. Hand-wash the item in warm, soapy water with a soft sponge. Rinse thoroughly. Dry completely with a soft cloth directly after washing.

  • Don’t devour your cast iron cookware in the dishwasher.

COOKING WITH YOUR NEW COOKWARE

  • The LEO cast iron pots and casseroles can be used on any kind of heat source: gas, electric, vitro-ceramic, halogen and induction.

  • All cast iron cookware – except the items with a wooden handle – can be used in the oven up to 280°C / 535°F.

  • Do not use the LEO cast iron cookware on an outdoor grill or open fire.

  • Do not use the LEO cast iron cookware in a microwave oven.

  • When using this cookware on an oven and on the stovetop, the handles and knobs can get hot. Use a suitable cloth or oven mitts to lift the cookware.

  • To avoid scratches on the surface of a ceramic or glass cooking plate, always lift the cookware, never slide it across.

  • Select a burner whose heat is approximately similar in base diameter to that of the item you have selected.

  • When cooking on gas, adjust the flame so it does not flare up the sides of the pan.

  • Never allow a pan to boil dry. Never let your pan heat up for too long.

  • Cover the complete surface of the base with oil, butter or other fats before frying.

  • Our pans and casseroles have fast heat retention and can hold their oil and dry out quickly. Always cook on low to medium heat.

  • Only use high heat when the pot is filled with a liquid for boiling your food (like pasta).

  • We recommend using bamboo, silicone, nylon or wooden utensils to protect and extend the life of your cookware.

  • Never drop cookware on the pan as this will damage the surface. Don’t use beaters or mixers in the cookware.

  • Do not drop the pan on the floor, as the enamel coating and product could get damaged.

  • On a table or counter, place hot pans and casseroles on a trivet, not directly on the table or counter.

  • Avoid scratches on (glass) cooking zones by sliding back and forth the pan unnecessarily.

CARE AND CLEANING

  • Cool down your pan before cleaning. Don’t fill the hot cookware with cold water or immerse it into cold water.

  • Avoid temperature shocks at all times. Never put a (very) hot cast iron pot or pan immediately on a cold surface. Never place a cold cast iron pot (from room temperature or from the fridge) in a pre-heated oven. Always put the cold cast iron pot in a cold oven and create the pre-heat together at the same time.

  • Don’t put cast iron cookware in the dishwasher.

  • After each use, clean by hand with a dish detergent especially made for hand washing.

  • When using heavily soiled areas, use a cleaning product that is based on baking soda. Avoid chlorine-containing scrubbing pads, oven cleaner and a sponge or a dishcloth.

  • If dry immediately after with soft, hot dish towels or paper towels. Rinse in warm water and dry immediately with soft cloth.

  • If you have remains of food stuck to the cookware, they can be easily removed by covering the (bottom) of the pan with water and letting soak while gently heating or keeping it at low temperature (no need to let the water cook). Do not use a very high temperature to remove food.

  • To avoid parts of pots and pans by stacking them, put for instance, a dish towel between them.

  • To avoid scraping and drying wet to prevent to scratch the surface of the cookware.

  • On a regular basis, you might want to season your cookware. Simply smear all stains occur on the food oil with kitchen paper, heat the inside of your pot or pan and place the cookware in an oven of about 150°C for an hour. Let it cool down.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

  • Do not allow children near the stove while you cook.

  • To avoid injury always use caution when handling hot pots.

  • For safety reasons, never leave cookware unattended while in use and make sure the handles do not extend over the edge of the stove.

  • Do not allow handles to extend over a hot burner, because the handles can get hot.

  • Use caution when removing old lids or lifting with the handles. Touch lightly to be sure the handles have not become hot. Use oven mitts or potholders if necessary.

  • Always use oven gloves when removing cookware from a hot oven.

  • Make sure the knobs are tightly fitted on the lid.
